Inaugural Meetup: April 26, 6pm @ McFadden’s

The inaugural WordPress Providence Meetup will be on  April 26th, 2010, at 6 pm, at McFadden’s Restaurant & Saloon. We’ll be in their private room; food and drinks will be served. The first 15 attendees will get free drink tickets, courtesy of our sponsor. Parking is free on and off street (starts at 5 pm).

Doors open at 6 pm; we ask that you try to arrive by 6:30 pm for networking. The program starts promptly at 7 pm. The program includes introductions, a presentation, and a chance to pick the brains of your fellow attendees.

Our first speaker is Sara Czyzewicz from Providence’s DandyID.  DandyID provides a set of tools that help you to collect, manage, and own your online identity. A little over 1 year ago, they released a WordPress plug-in that retrieves all of your DandyID identities and displays them as clickable links in the sidebar. Their plug-in, which Mashable called the #1 WordPress Plugin to Promote Your Social Media Profile, has been downloaded a whopping 30,000+ times from the official repository. And of course, their blog is WordPress powered too! Sara will introduce their service, demo the plug-in, discuss how it contributes to their success, and maybe even touch on how they built their plug-in.  Check out this guest post from Sara to learn more about their presentation.

Our first sponsor is C. Murray Consulting, a local web development and strategy firm with deep WordPress experience, whose Director of Client Services is one of the founders of this meet up.

Planning to attend? RSVP and let others know by leaving a comment!

Please indicate whether you’re a “maybe”, “yes”, or can’t make it (but you’re still interested). Thanks for letting us know!

I live over in North Attleboro and have been looking for a TweetUp and networking scene in the Providence Area, So much better to go to than Boston, IMO. I run about 15 blogs for myself and various clients and love to learn as much as I can about wordpress. I’m really looking forward to this event and hope to help as much as I can with the overall event.

Great idea, Jake. I’m pretty sure I’ll be there. (Only 15 minutes more to get there than to Downtown Boston depending on the day!)

I wish I could make it, but it’s the same night as the Boston WordPress Meetup.

Still can’t believe the timing worked out that way. For the record, we picked the date weeks before Boston announced their date! We look forward to seeing you at the next one, though.

I’m a xHTML and CSS user interface guy primarily, but I also code php and jQuery. WordPress has been creeping into my workflow lately. Most of all, I’d like to meet other coders/developers who may need some UI expertise. My business partner/designer-in-crime and I will attend to represent Highchair designhaus.
